Summary of Position:

This position is primarily responsible for performing visual and where necessary dimensional inspection of products produced, document defects and work with remaining Quality, Engineering, and operations to resolve any quality issues in an efficient and expeditious manner.

Essential Functions:

  • Ensure Operator compliance will all safety polices.
  • Validate work cells are properly set up with VAS boards, First Articles, all required assembly equipment and check fixtures as noted in the process books.
  • Review previous day issues with operators including quality alerts, 5s, and proper hand-offs between shifts
  • Verify training level of operators, review procedures
  • Complete necessary paperwork for daily production reporting, verify production requirements are met, scrap reporting is done at real-time stations and is accurate
  • Train operators to perform appropriate quality checks, including monitoring critical jobs each hour as defined by job process book
  • Coordinate specific sort/ rework activities in the QH area
  • All parts inspected must have QTL Stamp or initials on labels
  • Performs incoming/outgoing/final quality control check through visual, functional and/or dimensional inspections to all parts to ensure they meet customer requirements before they are placed in inventory or prepped for shipping.
  • Items requiring 100% inspection should be inspected at the press during the run. This included Volvo/ Paccar/ and any RH/ LH parts.
  • Ensures non-conforming product is labeled accordingly and works with Engineering, Quality and Operations to resolve any/all issues immediately. Non-Conforming parts to be dispositioned during the current shift according to production procedures
  • Works efficiently to complete audits and support flow of good product/materials in and out of Pack & Scan area, always ensuring proper dispositioning of parts post inspection.
  • Reviews any uninspected/unlabeled parts in their area to ensure they are properly dispositioned.
  • Maintain a clean, organized and safe work area.
  • Review and monitor scrap, defects, and rejects. Escalate if 3-5-10 rules are not respected
  • All other tasks assigned by the supervisor


  • Willingness and ability to follow all required safety procedures and guidelines.
  • Demonstrated ability to follow verbal and/or written instructions.
  • Proven ability to properly utilize measurement tools such as a Vernier caliper, micrometers, etc...
  • Verified ability to read technical drawings/blue prints.
  • Capable of effective and cooperative interaction with employees and contractors at all levels of the organization.
  • Willingness to be flexible with work schedules and work overtime and weekends, with or without advanced notice.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate in a fast-paced organization handling multiple projects simultaneously.
